Well I got the visas in the mail today, good thing I called the company last minute, because she told to me to include our ID numbers and passwords for the online application, probably to fix any mistakes we made. This information was not on their websites on what to include so I am so thankful I called. The only problem is everyone at that office is Russian and their accents are so hard to understand over the phone!
Our bank got the money thing taken care of, I called a bigger "branch" and spoke to someone who had done this before and she said she would have our money for us by Tuesday. Wahoo! Now all I have to do is pack, and go buy her two outfits, one in 18 months and one 24 months to see what size she is! Any suggestions on snacks? I am taking puffs and yogurt melts. Any other good suggestions?
A Year of Change
Give a call on Tuesday morning reminding them so they have a chance to get it ready. I ordered it over the phone and went to pick it up on the day they said, and they had forgotten all about it. I had to wait close to a 1/2 hour while they all looked for clean crisp bills. So glad things are moving along for you!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are from Germany and were in Kirov a little over a year ago to adopt our then 16 months old son. You are lucky with the region and the people who will be at your side - probabbly, if it's the same agency. The process is smooth and reliable there! Good luck with your girl, and I would recommend to go buy food there for the experience, it's not very exotic but original! Don't pack too much, you never need all you bring. Take lots of pictures. Write a diary. Enjoy the train ride, it's actually quite comfortable, I took a quarter of a sleeping pill and slept every night. Try the train restaurant, it's good!, but bring a dictionary for the menu. So anxious to hear more about your trip! Ina
ReplyDeleteI was going to say puffs. Vera wont TOUCH yogurt melts. Oh but she LOVES gerber toddler biscuits, maybe grab some of those too. Size wise... ot sure if your agency gave you weight and stuff (I imagine they did), but Vera is 24 months today, she was 20 months when I met her the first time in July. Today, she is in 12-18 months. So maybe pick up one of those to be on the safe side :-)
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! Any other questions ask away!!!
Take some paper to trace her foot. That way you can buy her some shoes when you get back home for her to wear! And, take some of those disposable cameras, put your last name and herRussian name on them and leave them with the coordinators and ask if they will take pictures of her in between your trips. Invaluable and will cover that gap for you later! Small children love stacking cups and colorful things! Have fun!!! God bless.
