I am sure all of you are wondering about what my decision is on taking Camden with us to Russia. No to trip 1, thank you. But really leaning towards yes on trip 2. I know that I would have great people take care of him while we were gone, but we are staying for the full 30 days. If we stay in the region that we got the first referral from, we have to stay for 30 days due to new rules that the region put out. I honestly don't think I can stay away from him for 30 days. He is a very laid back easy going child. We went on a R.V. trip two summers ago and we sometimes spent 15 hours in the car driving, and he did amazing. So that is what we are thinking, I think when we go for trip 1 we will ask permission from the director themselves if we may bring him during trip 2 and then we can have whole family bonding time. That is what I am thinking right now.
We are a ways off from starting on our second adoption and we would obviously be in a similar boat now that we have Hayden. We pretty much came to the same conclusion that you did (no-trip 1, yes-trip 2). I can't imagine leaving him for 30 days!!!! I will be curious to see how it all plays out for you!
ReplyDeleteI think that's the right choice. Trip 1 is very hectic and emotional and you really need to focus on your referral. Trip 2 would be great for family bonding. Hopefully your agency can give you some info on him going to the orphanage. You'll get a sense of how that particular orphanage is ran on trip 1. A lot depends on the director, and they can be like night and day in the Moscow Region where we were.
ReplyDeleteWe took our son, who was 2.5 at the time, to Kazakhstan for 8 weeks and it was awesome! I think you are making a great choice for him, and you. I will be a wonderful family bonding experience for you all, especially Camden who will witness the "birth" of your new baby.
